The perfect wedding shoes is not always a dream
Is your wedding around the corner? Or planning to begin shopping soon? I am sure you have a big list to strike off shopping things for your wedding day as well as plan an elaborate trousseau. Truth is the bride always has to pay attention to details especially when she wants things to be her way during her wedding. While the whole process can be daunting, the best weddings are those where the bride and his groom are the happiest. We spend so much time picking the right dress, jewellery, and stunning makeup. Do you feel like picking the perfect wedding shoes might be lacking some attention?
I have to tell you; my wedding shopping was madness and very stressful- because I hate shopping especially in malls. Everything was sorted except everything for the main events. I had to compromise on so many things including the shoes. Why? Because things were left to last moment and that’s when most things will go wrong.
Buy your wedding dress first
Wedding gowns and lehengas are something you have to buy with a lot of pre-planning. Once this step is done you can now move onto your jewellery followed by the wedding shoes. How to know what would work best? Try starting with a contrast in colour.
Look everywhere
Do not restrict yourself to finding the perfect wedding shoes only offline but online too. You won’t believe the options that you will find across websites online in various range and options. If your in-laws are planning to gift you a pair of shoes for the wedding rituals just on the basis of your size, politely refuse and insist on trying anything before you buy. Because you have to wear them not only at your wedding but later too. Key: Versatile shoes are the best because you can wear them later!
However, if you plan you buy your perfect wedding shoes online, be very sure to speak with the company first before ordering them and explaining the need. Let them confirm whether it will be ideal or not. Order in advance, try, and if you don’t like them, return immediately and start looking again.

Understand your comfort
Yes, all brides want to look their best and show off. But you need to understand the number of hours you will have to spend on your shoes for posing for your pictures, walking around during your reception, etc. I was seeking height when I was looking for my pair of perfect wedding shoes and while I wear stilettos, they weren’t an option on my wedding day. So, the next best option is going for wedges or block heels with platform. Peep-toes pointed heels and kitten heels will all cause pain within the first hour of your wearing them. You are not only holding yourself up but also that heavy wedding attire and jewellery too. Be very wise with the kind of wedding shoes you intend to pick and how comfortable you are walking in them.
Last moment shopping is a blunder
Just like your wedding attire needs to be picked with care, your perfect wedding shoes should be next on the list. I picked my reception shoes just two days before my wedding and it was the biggest mistake ever. I love the pair so much (and the time was so less) that I had to give in and buy a smaller size in that pair because my size wasn’t available. I wore them eventually and that night was a horror for my feet, more so inexplicable. Learn from my mistakes!
Know your venue
Pick shoes according to your venue. Whether it is indoors or outdoors will reflect in the kind of pair you choose. I’d highly recommend buying juttis or platform wedges (for height) if your wedding is outdoors. Your feet will thank you. Also, in Indian weddings, you will have to keep removing your shoes often, take that into consideration too.
Perfect wedding shoes for men
For men, it’s usually the same color that matches their sherwani or suit. But why not go playful with some embroidered loafers, sneakers and maybe play around with some material such as velvet? I think even going bold colours that are contrasting your wedding attire looks great too.
Here are some brands you can get your wedding shoes from:
Needledust and Fizzy Goblet for Juttis
Catwalk, Inc.5, Aldo, Charles and Keith, Zara and Steve Madden for wedges and heels
Shutiq for Men (Custom made options available)
There are several designer options available too such as Valentino, Dolce and Gabbana, Dior, Attico, etc.
