DIY skincare remedies are necessary
You cannot possibly keep buying products for everything all the time for two major reasons: these products have an expiry date and there are new products in the market every day. And I personally feel it is way too over the top to buy a product for everything when you can just try the natural way. I was supposed to do a blog on DIY skincare remedies last month, but time doesn’t stop for anyone! (And procrastinators should know that.) Let me first tell you that I have combination skin and all these DIY skincare remedies are tried and tested. Most of these ingredients are in your kitchen so you don’t have to really go for major grocery shopping.
And, some of these remedies I have stolen from my mother’s and mother-in-law’s secrets.
Tomato Scrub: For tighter skin
You will need:
- 1 medium tomato
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons salt
Keep this mix on for like 10 minutes or so and the rub it off your face. The salt helps in exfoliation while tomato and olive oil helps tightening of your skin.
Flax Seeds: For stronger and longer nails
You will need:
- 50 gms of Flax Seeds
- 3 cups of water
Heat in a pan till the mixture becomes gooey. Once it cools down, apply over your nails and cuticles. This method done a few times a week should induce stronger and longer nail growth.
Pure Aloe Vera: For healthy, shiny hair
You will need:
- Pure aloe vera
- 10 drops of orange or 5 drops of lavender essential oil
Aloe vera is great for your hair and this mask work on all kinds of hair. Just make sure you’re using fresh or pure aloe vera only.
Milk Powder mix: For tighter pores
You will need:
- 2 teaspoons of milk powder
- 5 tea spoons of honey
- 3-4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to give a medium consistency
- Cotton pads
DIY facial at home mask
You will need:
- For Normal/Combination Skin- 1 tablespoon honey + 1 tablespoon Yogurt
- For Oily Skin- 1 tablespoon multani mitti + 1 tablespoon honey
- For Dry Skin- ½ a banana (mashed) + 1 tablespoon honey
This I’d say is one of my favourite DIY Skincare remedies because this is a skin loving remedy. Combine all these ingredients above and apply evenly like a face pack. Let it rest on your face for about 20 minutes and the remove it with a warm wet towel. This works just like a face pack, only more natural, so, you have to ensure that you do not use any cleanser for the next day or so.
Vitamin C influx
You will need:
- 1 table spoon of Gelatin
- Two and a half time of Orange juice
- Patience
Microwave this mixture for about 30 seconds. It should convert in a thick gel mixture. Apply over your face using a brush. Peel it off once it completely dries.
Green tea bags
You will need:
- Tea bags
Refrigerate used tea bags for a couple hours and the place them under your eyes. This instantly removes puffiness and also give the essential Tea tree oils to your under eyes.
These are some of the tried DIY skincare remedies I am sharing with you folks. DO tell me how did any of them work for you.
