21 best lipsticks under 1000: The hunt
I am a super lover of lipsticks. Earlier I would only use lip balms and maybe lip glosses, but now I am more than happy to use lipsticks on a regular basis. I have pigmented lips and I am a pink tone which always made it really hard for me to choose the right shade. You might buy a darker one or a too light shade and then people might tell you to not wear them. It is true that some shades don’t work on specific skin tones.
However, if you are someone who loves lipsticks, you should wear different colours. The more often you wear them, it’ll begin to look a part of you. This trick worked with me whenever I used a darker shade of lipstick. Now, when you are out in the market looking for the right shade, there are several brands offering lipsticks in a varied price range. The more you explore there are chances you might just pickup something that you don’t even fit in well with.
Nonetheless, from my own messy experiences on shopping lipsticks, I have pulled together 21 best lipsticks under 1000 which are not just long lasting but affordable too. I have a wishlist of huge makeup haul that I would probably want to share with you all, but for now, let’s begin with the all-time essential, the best lipsticks under 1000. Let’s get going.
21 best lipsticks under 1000, pick your love!
The first of the best lipsticks under 1000 is by Lakme. Lakme lipsticks are actually one of the first ones that I bought. The ones I have now are in shade Peach Path and Wine Play. It retails for about Rs. 450 and I think it is a pretty good one. If I apply the lipstick once in the morning, about 3-4 hours later I need to reapply. Other than that it is matte and comes in a lot of colours.
Maybelline is a brand which is not only really good in its quality of products but is quite affordable too. Their Color Show Matte lipsticks retails for about Rs. 325 each and I think they easily last for 2-3 hours. I have the shade pop of pink and the finish of the lipstick is really creamy.
The name says it all. This is a liquid lipstick which is a new launch by Maybelline. It retails for Rs. 600 and if you are someone who is not willing to touch-up, this one is for you! This liquid lipstick is slightly different from how you apply the others. You apply the lipstick on clean bare lips, wait for about 2 minutes and then apply a lip balm to seal it. You can reapply lip balms as in when necessary.
Colorbar has a great makeup collection with amazing nail paints and tools. Their lipsticks and liners are my favourites because the colour is rich and quite long lasting. If you have been apprehensive about trying a red lipstick for a long time, it is time you get yourself a Colorbar lipstick. You will fall in love with reds. This lipstick range retails for Rs. 325 each and have about 25 shades in total.
5. L’oreal Paris Pure Reds
When L’oreal launched their pure reds edition, there was no one more happier than I was. Honestly, every skin tone needs a different kind of red, and the 7 shades they launched are just right. I fit in with the Frieda Pinto red in shade Pure Rouge. Whenever I have to go to a party, I apply this and it just stays where it is supposed to be. Of course, it isn’t transfer proof, but who cares. It is my kind of red after all. This lipstick retails for Rs. 995 (just under 1000 huh). They deserve to be in this list of best lipsticks under 1000.
6. Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream
The day Nyx launched on Nykaa, it was such a relief knowing I won’t have to travel to Mumbai every now and then to buy them now. I love Nyx. Amongst all matte lipsticks, I think my favourite is the Nyx Matte Lip Cream. Why? They have such a beautiful colour and super long lasting without making my lips dry. I have them in 4 shades: Monte Carlo, London, Abu Dhabi and Copenhagen. They retail for Rs. 600 each. (MUST BUY)
7. Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gradation
When they had just launched this one, I was super curious to buy it. So one side has a retractable lip colour while the other side of this lipstick has a sponge which can be used to create an ombre effect. If you haven’t tried it, the time is now. It is easy to apply and travel friendly. I have it in the shade Orange 1. The lipstick retails for Rs. 500 each.
8. Nyx Full Throttle lipstick
Another Nyx beauty, available in about 6 shades. It is a waterproof full-coverage matte lipstick which is really saturated. I have it in red called up the bass. The lipstick retails for Rs. 600 each.
9. Sugar Matte As Hell Crayon Lipstick
I bought this last week and have been using it for about 4 days now. It is available in 4 shades and I think just as I would love a lip crayon to be, it is all those things. Easy to apply, soft on texture and highly pigmented. It retails for Rs. 799.
10. Chambor Extreme Wear Transferproof Liquid Lipsticks
I was fascinated with the word ‘transferproof’ so thought let’s go and get one. Within the first week of buying the first one, I bought three more. I have them in shades 402, 404 and 482. I ran out of the fourth one. Here is what I feel about these lipsticks:
- They are liquid.
- They last longer than any other lipsticks I have ever used.
- They are matte,
- They are transferproof as hell! I mean I apply one layer, it dries and after that it just stays.
These lipsticks retail for Rs. 850.
11. Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Lipsticks
Another new launch by Maybelline wins our hearts. If you are someone looking for a few lipsticks to buy, I’d suggest you buying them today from this range. You can buy them for Rs. 475 each.
12. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick
Revlon has been giving us great lipsticks for years. But these lipsticks get better and better with every range. It is available in a massive 31 shades which means a shade for every one! The lipstick retails for Rs. 599 each.
I swear by the Inglot blushes and eye shadows and now, even the lipsticks. With Vitamin E, macadamia oil, and avocado oil, these lipsticks moisturize and nourish the lips. Because it has a long lasting formula it provides the ideal matte, smooth and even finish. You can buy them for Rs. 950 each.
Who says natural things are expensive? Iba Halal Care has great range of cosmetics and are certified to be 100% natural. When it is the matters of your skin, it is important to go as less chemical as possible. And in that case Iba has some great products one could use regularly. They have 21 shades of super saturated lipsticks which retails for Rs. 195 each. I wouldn’t usually recommend a lipstick that low in cost unless the lipstick is really worth trying, because the Iba ones definitely are. Go vegan!
I have been using the Faces translucent powder and it is pretty amazing. When I tried the lip crayon, I think this one is something you should have in a shade too. It is paraben free and dermatologically tested. It retails for Rs. 799 each.
16. The Body Shop Color Crush Lipstick
A couple weeks after Chambor launched its transferproof collection, I was again hunting for a new lipstick preferably on a new brand. The Body Shop has the color crush lipsticks in 4 shades. I bought the nude one. I feel this lipstick does justice to its retail price of Rs. 895. It is really nice in your lips and being rich in moisture with a subtle rose scent, it has become my everyday lipstick.
17. The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain
This is a boon in disguise. A lip and cheek stain is something that you can use as both a lipstick and a blush. I personally have used and totally love The Body Shop lip and cheek stain in Hibiscus. It’s my always-to-go with makeup essential. You can find this in The Body Shop stores or on their website. It retails for Rs. 995 each.
This new entrant has made out list of best lipsticks under 1000. I mean with Nykaa now being our one stop makeup shopping destination, its very recent lipstick launch makes me want to get them all. It retails for Rs. 399 each. They are super matte, available in various shades. And because I have just placed my order for them, I suggest you guys give it a try too!
Just while wandering around in Lifestyle store, I found this brand called Max Factor. I thought of picking up a lipstick just to know about its quality and how long it lasts. This lipstick retails for Rs. 840 and bought it in shade Mulberry. The colour is rich, lasts about 2-3 hours, and really great if you are in an event.
20. Chambor Orosa Lip Perfection Lipstick
As a makeup enthusiast, I guess my favourite makeup product of all time is a lipstick. I always liked Chambor products, especially its lipsticks. The Chambor Orosa Lip Perfection lipsticks come in an adorably sophisticated gold-dome packaging. It retails for about Rs. 995, super nourishing and has a velvety finish. It comes in 24 shades and I have three of them which only leaves me wanting for all of them! (MUST HAVE best lipsticks under 1000).
21. Marie Claire Soft Matte Lip Cream
This one is similar to the Nyx Matte Lip Cream only a little more cheaper. I feel the Marie Claire lip cream is equally good. Available in about 27 shades, this lip cream retails for Rs. 250 each. What a steal!
After this comprehensive list of best lipsticks under 1000, here are a few things we recommend:
- Try using a lip liner. It helps holding the lipstick for much longer.
- A nude lip liner is a constant fix.
- Scrub/exfoliate your lips once a while. The best way is to mix equal portions of honey, brown sugar and some lemon. Rub it onto your lips. It moisturizes your lips and also reduces the darkening.
- Keep your lips hydrating using a hydrating lip balm.
- You can always play and mix two or more lipsticks. I do that often.
